Low Volume Injection Molding Services

Injection Molding, Simplified and Scaled

Injection molding is a highly efficient manufacturing process where molten resin plastic is injected under high pressure into a mold cavity. Depending on the injected materials, these resin cavities can survive a few injections, to up to thousands of shots. The risk of committing to a singular mold design is reduced, and turn around times become expedited. Price per part falls with each successive injection mold.

From our Orange County facility, our resin-based cavity injection molding process revolutionizes manufacturing by offering a dramatically simpler and more efficient way to produce fully isotropic parts. This solution dramatically cuts costs and time, all without sacrificing quality or strength. This method also allows for "bridge" molding, while a final stainless steel or aluminum mold is made — which may take 6+ weeks.

Key Features

Variable Production Sizes

Depending on the injected plastic, molds can survive a three to ten injections, all the way up to a thousand shots. Glass filled plastic or plastic with higher melting temperatures will cause molds to last fewer injections. For molds that require longer production runs, cheaper plastics will provide for longer life cycles.

Adjustable Mold Design

Because the injection mold cavity is created via SLA resin, the molds can be adjusted and reproduced easily. No longer does a product's design need to be limited to the scope of the molds that make it. Aluminum and steel mold cavities are ideal for when the design of the mold is set and not expected to change, and quantities reach the hundreds of thousands of units.

Simplified Molds

Resin based cavities simplifies the development of molds. Resin cavities sit inside of a pre-sized aluminum or steel frame, allowing for quick interchangeability of designs. The frames with the resin cavities can then be moved into a traditional injection molding machine for production.

Cost-Effectiveness

Each successive injection reduces the cost-per-part. The upfront cost for a resin based injection molding cavity is the production of the resin cavity — however, many of these can be made at a fraction of the price of a steel or aluminum mold. The injected material greatly affects the life expectancy of the resin mold.
