A critical process in product development that focuses on speeding up design iterations, cost-effectiveness, and design validation. Rapid prototyping is most commonly performed with additive manufacturing technologies as turn around times can be shortened and production runs can be varied in quantities. Can be deployed to quickly identify and fix product flaws in form, fit, and function. this and that
Our 3D scanning services eliminate the margin of error inherent in manual measurement, providing a comprehensive "digital twin" of your most complex parts. From organic shapes to high-precision components, we deliver the sub-millimeter accuracy and clean CAD data you need to move from physical part to production with total confidence.
Simulations and performance studies are performed in CAD before being pushed through into either FDM or SLA manufacturing. Multiple iterations may exist without being built out yet. without keys
Following the design and concept phase, the general rapid prototyping stack begins. The 3 main stages are Build, Review, and Define & Iterate. Define & Iterate goes back into Build, thus creating a circular and sustainable prototyping enviroment.
Build focuses on low cost and quick turn around of parts. The methods here are FDM and SLA printing.
Review comprises of testing and validation design. Errors and quality evaluations become apparent.
Refine & Iterate attempts to design away any problems or errors. It is a set up for Building a new product with adjustments.
Once designs pass for fit, function, and form, they can be pushed through to production. Depending on the application or requirements, production may be either FDM, SLA, or Resin Cavity Injection Molding. Each of these methods yields their own pros and cons — see our FAQ for more details.
